What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
As teachers/educators we need to motivate our learners to engage in the learning. I especially relished the opportunity to connect with my break out group this session. I shared some golden nuggets that have helped my practice regards sound and video quality then sharing/presenting screens.
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
By providing a model for future focussed teaching and learning we can establish an authentic audience for their learning outcomes. This in turn empowers our learners. Students need to creator rather than just a consumer.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
Video, sound, and wifi quality play a major factor when presenting, if you're able to get that set up correctly you've nailed it!
The following video is a recording of a Google Meet that I create, it shows a discussion with a colleague around a students learning. While also showing our ability to record, save and embed our Google Meet to our blog. I'd usually like to edit this video before posting using WeVideo software, however for this task I have just loaded raw recording... enjoy!
Barry it was great to read your blog post. I agree totally with the idea of having a shared language and we can see within the dfi the benefit of all being up to talk about the same Pedagogy and language of learning.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your hot tip about screen sharing with sound. I'm having a go with the voice typing for this comment, something I've learnt in the dfi. Hopefully you're learning stuff too.

Adding to your observation of making sure everything's set up when you're presenting the other thing I think is helpful is making sure you do what you can rather than what you can't. By that I mean if you've got less bandwidth adjust what you're trying to do so that it works.
I noticed I didn't have access to your video which you can easily sort by setting up a folder with anyone with the link can view and put everything in there.
Kia ora Dave,
DeleteThank you for taking the time to comment on my blog post I appreciate your feedback.
I am, however unsure what you mean by focusing on what I can do, rather than what I can't - and also bandwidth?
Cheers for bringing up the access to my video issue too, it seems my video was placed in the wrong folder. It was a very enjoyable session connecting with our group.
