By gaining an understanding of the 'Why' behind the pedagogy and kaupapa that drives Manaiakalani, it will in turn direct and support my practice. When unpacking the 'Create' aspect of this programme you soon realise it is all about the 'Hook' Getting learners hooked into learners developing creative skills to help learners become problem solvers, communicators and collaborators. We want a world full of playfully creative people who are constantly inventing new possibilities for themselves and their communities. I appreciate and understand that when you give your learners something to do, not something to learn. The doing an such a way will demand thinking, and the learning with naturally result. Empowering creativity is key...

Below is a Goggle Slide presentation of my Pepeha - I initially wanted to play a waiata throughout the presentation. This became too difficult, surely there must be an easier way?

  1. Hi Barry in terms of the audio of a waiata you can record the slides in present mode with screencastify, loomio quicktime etc and embed the resulting video.
The insert audio option is probably better in my mind especially if you have a local copy of the audio to upload to drive. Set the audio to auto play and be hidden and away you go you can adjust the volume of the background track. If you go to the insert menu you should be able to follow your nose from there.

    1. KIa ora Dave, thank you for your comment - I did consider using screencastify. My thinking was that is was a slides task I'd stay with a slide presentation. Hopefully I'll find time this week to up date and re embed task. Mauri ora

  2. Kia ora Barry.
I love the look of your blog, especially the dark colours with the white writing (very effective) and the blue ghostly trees in the background.
The landscapes in your pepeha are very beautiful - what a great way to share your pepeha. I know you want to keep your special place as a secret spot, but did I see a clue in your fishing beds (Anaura)?
I am enjoying our Digital Bubble, and I thought you might like a link to my blog: Julia

    1. Kia ora Julia,
Yes, Anaura Bay is a very special place for my whanau. My dad grew up there and his family home it sits proudly in the bay. It's the reason, well one of the reasons we moved to Gissy. I would've liked to link the waiata through the slides but ran out of time... I've checked out your blog too, I'm glad you're enjoying the DFI sessions.
